Roade Reserves 2
Pegasus Reserves 2 (Chwaz, Trim) – 05/11/11
Pegasus continued their tour of the length and breadth of
Northamptonshire with a trip to Roade, our 5th away game in a row,
with Blisworth to follow next week to make it six of the best!!
After the disappointing manner in which we were knocked out
of the cup last week all the lads were really up for it and ready to redeem
themselves.
Due to injuries and unavailability we were down to the bare
eleven with Johnny Mc on the bench despite barely being able to walk!!
Conditions were perfect for football and Peg started the 1st
half brightly playing our best football for some time. Unfortunately Trim pulled
his hamstring after 20 minutes which restricted him for the rest of the game,
top marks though as he battled on for the full 90 minutes due the lack of subs.
Peg took the lead early 2nd half with the keeper
fumbling a speculative shot from Trim. We then began to tire as the half
progressed and Roade scored twice in quick succession to take a 2.1 lead with a
matter of minutes left.
The old Peg never say die attitude from last season then
kicked in with the lads digging deep and Chris Hurling winning a penalty that
Chwaz coolly converted.
In a mad last couple of minutes we had time for the joint
managers to have a flare up on the pitch (we have since kissed and made up) and
Derek nearly won it for us with a great effort from distance which looked in all
the way but just drifted wide at the end.
So in summary we were happy with the performance and a
point was probably just about a fair result. We are nicely placed in 3rd
spot in the league averaging 2 points a game and are well placed to kick on now
for the rest of the season.
We only pick a man of the match when we win but special
mentions to Stratty who had an excellent game in his new defensive role. Also
Chris and Trim for giving 100% while carrying injuries and Chwaz for a fantastic
performance in midfield.
