Corby Pegasus
Reserves 3 Weldon Reserves 1 ( Sincy, ,Chwaz, Chris) – 07/04/12
With Weldon securing the league title last week there was
still a lot to play for as the lads looked to secure 2nd place in the
league which we feel would be a great achievement in our promotion season. We
are also very determined to keep our home unbeaten run which has now lasted two
full seasons intact.
Chris Hurling came into replace Jamie Burns and the rest of
the team remained the same with the usual formation.
Weldon started and well and bossed the first 15 to 20
minutes of the first half, but Pegasus took the lead with a controversial
scuffed goal following a goalmouth scramble from a corner. This settled us down
and although Weldon continued to enjoy good possession they didn’t really
threaten Hugo’s goal.
Shortly before half time Sincy made it 2.0 with another
good finish to continue his recent excellent goal scoring form.
Weldon’s management team then basically did our half time
team talk for us by stating loudly how bad a team we are!!
Although Weldon made it 2.1 very early in the 2nd
half we continued to frustrate them with Trim, Sincy and Chwaz in particular
working very unselfishly to close their defenders down and make it difficult to
play through us.
Chris Hurling then made it 3.1 with possibly the best goal
of our season (sorry DK) with a 35 yard strike into the top corner.
The game finished 3.1 which means we need 4 points from our
final two matches to guarantee 2nd place.
Congratulations to Weldon for winning the league.
