Let’s put this down as a poor day at the office for the opening 45 minutes, which is when this game was lost.  Pegasus had started brightly and it was an even contest, but mid-way through the fist half Weldon opened the scoring when Pegasus defence failed to deal with a nothing long ball down the middle with the Weldon forward nipping in between defender and goalkeeper to net. This gave Weldon an obvious boost and they started to take control of the game. However again it was poor defending that let Weldon extend their lead as another aimless ball was not dealt with and again the Weldon forwards punishing the poor defending. It looks as though Pegasus would go in two down at half time, but just before the interval a cross into the six yards box was once again not dealt with and Weldon went in at half-time three to the good.

Pegasus had nothing to loose and changed the formation to an attacking one. Pegasus did have the better of the second half but did not get the early breakthrough they were hoping. A great chance fell to Jamie in the opening minutes of the 2^nd half but an excellent save by the Weldon keeper kept it out. Pegasus did pull one back mid-way through the second half when a free-kick into the box was met by Shaun who neatly side-footed it into the net. Pegasus kept pressing and pressing and put Weldon under pressure, but they just could not find that second goal to make it a nervous finish. The inevitable happened as in stoppage time and with Pegasus throwing everyone forward Weldon broke quickly and scored their fourth.

So a first defeat of the season for Pegasus, but we will take that on the chin and learn from it. As an experienced Peg’s player said’ the league is not won or lost after only 5 or 6 games’.  The league table still looks good and there is a long, long way to go.
