Gretton Reserves 1
Pegasus Reserves 3( Sincy 2, Derek) – 17/03/12
This was a rare local derby for us this season and with a
few ex players and friends (and family) on the opposing team the lads were
really up for this one with bragging rights at stake. With Weldon slipping up
for the first time this season 3 points were a necessity to keep our slim title
hopes alive.
Unfortunately we seemed a little hyped up when the game
started and didn’t apply ourselves properly, giving away cheap free kicks and
receiving silly bookings. Gretton took the lead midway through the first half
and although we didn’t really threaten an equaliser we kept it pretty tight to
go in 1.0 down at halftime.
The team were all disappointed in themselves and vowed to
put things right in the 2nd half with Derek Kirkpatrick in particular
really getting the lads on the right track during the half time team talk.
In the 2nd half we really showed why we have
been so successful these last two seasons. The lads rolled their sleeves up, won
the physical battle and then let their football do the talking. Sincy equalised
and then put us 2.1 up with a couple of great finishes before Derek made the
last few minute more comfortable by making the score 3.1.
Jamie came on midway through the half after Chwaz was
injured so it was a great squad effort.
