With two games to play we needed 3 points and hoped that
Brixworth would drop points to ensure we finished in 2nd place in the
league.
Stevo and Jamie came into the team for Derek and Chris and
there was the welcome return of Sean to help out on the bench.
Gretton were in end of season mode with nothing to play for
so it was important that the lads maintained their focus.
Although we didn’t play particularly well, we impressed in
spells and every time we got the ball down and passed it we created chances.
Chwaz, got the first two goals and Stevo slammed in the third to make it 3.0 at
half time in torrential rain.
2nd half was more of the same with Jamie and
Sincy scoring two late goals to give a more emphatic look to the score.
We learned after the game that Brixworth had drawn with
Harpole which guaranteed us 2nd place, a great achievement in our
first season in a tough league.
Well done to all the lads and we look forward to our last
game and a few drinks on May 5th!!!
