Goal Scorer : Trim
We all knew that today was
going to be a testing game, but with three wins out of three, confidence was
high amongst the squad. Changes had to be made to the starting XI with an injury
to Stephen McC meaning he had to sit out what was going to be his last game, but
the return of Mark Sinclair more than eased that disappointment.
Moulton started the brighter
and were on top in the opening exchanges, but did not make the Pegasus
goalkeeper have to do any work. Pegasus finally got into the game mid-way into
the half and the rest of the half was a fairly even contest. The best
opportunity falling to Trim, after some excellent play down the left by Chwaz
and Jamie, but Trim could not keep his shot from going over the bar.
Pegasus started the 2nd
half much, much better and after a sustained period of pressure they finally
opened a deserved lead. A shot came in from Danny Strat (not sure if it was on
target or not) but Trim put his head to it and diverted the ball in the opposite
direction and leaving the Moulton keeper wrong footed.
Moulton pushed and pushed
for an equalizer, but Pegasus stood firm and again the Pegasus keeper was not
made to work. In fact Pegasus looked the more likely to increase their lead as
Moulton left themselves short at the back and Pegasus broke quickly on a number
of occasions.
There was one last act of
drama in the last seconds of the game with Moulton still pushing for the
equaliser. A deep cross into the Pegasus box was met with a free header from a
Moulton forward at the back post but a brilliant instinctive finger-tipped save
by Lewis diverted the ball onto the bar and the danger was cleared.
So that made it four wins
out of four and keeps the confidence and spirit high within the squad.
