On a roasting hot day, Pegasus never really got going against the last two Season’s Double Winners and ended up getting nothing out of the game.
The first half was pretty even with Harpole having the most possession, with Pegasus grateful to Craig McShannon in their goal for two outstanding saves. The nearest Pegasus coming to a goal was when Iain Doherty headed Az Bailey’s corner wide with a free header.
The second half proceeded in much the same manner with Pegasus creating very little and the Harpole defence keeping the Pegasus attack well shackled. In turn, all Pegasus could do was cross balls straight at their keeper. Having said that, Az Bailey thought he had put Pegasus 1 up when he placed a fine volley towards the far corner, only for the Harpole keeper to pull out a fine save.
On 65 minutes, Harpole took the lead, when a static defence allowed the visitors in and they sealed the points when a corner was headed home at the far post on 75 minutes.
So, after a good opening Saturday last week, Pegasus were brought back to earth, although they won’t meet teams of Harpole’s caliber every week and there are still 24 games to go!
